This book is terrible. Don't waste your money

This book is terrible. Don't waste your money. Poorly edited and replete with typos. The book itself doesn't actually give a quick start introduction to anything except the basic idea behind Agile project management (which, I might add, you could easily discover on your own through a Google search) and then it proceeds to repeat the same generalized information for about 100 pages. You will certainly not walk away "mastering" anything after reading this book. There are no concrete steps or examples that one might use to actually understand how to implement Agile methodology. You'll read through MANY bulleted lists of concepts that would be very helpful to learn more about but, sadly, you never do! A more fitting title for this book would be "A quick overview of Agile principles, how they might be applied to other industries, and basic info about the taking the certification exam." Submitting for a refund ASAP.

Waste of your money

This book tells you nothing about the details of Agile or how to actually use Agile Project Management. It is 80pgs of why to use Agile and how it differs from traditional project management. This isnt even a short version of how to use it. The book is basically a waste. Do not waste your money on it. It is just an advertisement to take a course. I can't believe anyone gave it more than a star or two. Any 5 star rating is a scam by the author. Seriously.

This is by far the WORST reference book I have ever read in my professional career. If you want to get an introduction to agile project management or know how to start an agile project management, this is NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU. If you wonder if there are any benefits to agile, vs. water fall, project management, don't mind reading a very poorly written and poorly organized book, and have some money you need to throw away, you may consider this book.
The book is a collection of random thoughts written by a person who may have been part of an agile project team. The contents of the chapters and sections do not match the chapter title or the section heading. The book is filled with grammatic mistakes. It surprises me that the publisher did not proofread the book before printing.

A great series for the 6-8 age group

My first grader loves to read chapter books featuring interesting characters, and the Sophie series of books is a winner. Unlike the Junie B. Jones series (the stories are cute, but the kiddie-language with all of the grammatical errors annoys me), these stories are well-written and engaging. The sentences are not overly simple, but not very complex to the point of making reading and comprehension difficult.

In Sophie the Snoop, Sophie decides to imitate the great detective Sherlock Holmes and calls herself Sophie the Snoop. She dons a hat not unlike the one worn by the great detective himself, and goes about looking for mysteries to solve. Her first case involves figuring out who handed in a math worksheet without putting his/her name on it. Well, some simple sleuthing proves that it was Sophie's worksheet!

There are some funny scenes where Sophie tries to solve some 'mysteries', and young children will enjoy reading about Sophie and her zany adventures. I think these books are suitable for the first-third grade age group (6-8 years old). They are not too easy, yet the stories are interesting with engaging characters that young children can relate to. For young readers who are proficient and advanced readers, I'd also recommend:

Good book

I would recommend this book to someone 3rd or 4th grade. It is appropriate, but might be a bad influence on younger children because the storyline for this book is her snooping in other people's business, and going through a teachers purse. Good writing not very difficult but has good vocabulary and your child will learn alot

A good read!!

My daughter is not a great reader. So, I am trying hard to look for books that would develop her interest in reading. This book did! I bought couple of other books in the series (Sophie the Awesome and Sophie the Hero), but, so far, this is the best.

Perfect smurfect

The first 2 chapters were probably the most helpful; that is, if you didn't already know the basics about personal statement writing.

My real gripe with the book are the examples; if these are some of the very best that applicants have had to offer, then perhaps anyone could get in. However, I really don't think they are. The examples are simple and not at all profound, as I would expect a stellar personal statement to be. I think I wrote better samples of things while I was in middle school. I had bought this book with the intention of getting good ideas on how to write my own personal statement but I'm not in any better position than I was before I read the book.

Pros: I think they used recycled paper to print this book. That deserves at least 2 stars!

Overt and conservative

This book gets a grade of 'just OK'. My feeling is if you *need* the advice passed on by this book, you're probably not a good candidate for grad school to begin with. I had more than a few *facepalm* moments while reading, asking myself if anyone needs advice that is so obvious. Another thing I didn't like about the text was that it tries its hardest to steer you toward writing a conservative, middle of the road statement. It takes every opportunity to remind you that creativity and boldness will not be rewarded by your evaluators.

There are probably better books (I hope) out there to help you through the process of writing up your personal statement for graduate school.

As a college student soon applying to professional schools, I found this book to be totally useless. Although cheap, it is not worth the buy. It gives some general advice that is already well-known but is also given in better and more detailed books. In addition, their examples hardly impressed me and were definitely not top-tier school material. If I turned in one of those statements, I would be rejected everywhere. Look elsewhere when looking for how to write your statement!!!

Aother GREAT book by this author

Chris Epting has once again made a book about all the places behind the history. As with his three other book I've purchased ("James Dean, "M. Monroe" & "Elvis Presley") it's a collection of cool facts about the historical value of the PLACE, in addition to the event. If you are a person that looks at a physical location (like a liquor store on the corner of 7th & Main in L.A.) and says "Wow! That is where U2 made that iconic video 20 years ago), then all of Chris' books are for you. There is just something about staring at an otherwise boring street corner in San Franciso and realising that you're gazing at one of the most famous album covers of the past 50 years. In a time when our imaginations are used very little, this author has really given mine a workout.

There's Something for Everyone!

As a lifelong music fanatic who thrives on rock/pop minutiae, this book is like candy for my senses. While I may be familiar with many of these landmarks, it's great to have them all bound in one encyclopedic volume. I'm also a person who's been known to trek far & wide just to stand in the spot where a musical hero of mine once did, so this will come in handy for those times I feel I'm jonesing for a trek to a musical Mecca. But whether you're a completist or a casual fan, there's something in here for everyone. Great photos help round out this joyful celebration of these notable locales which help to make our American culture so vibrant & distinctive.

Fun read... with great little facts and numbers and great thing to pull out when going on a road trip to see if there is something to stop by and see from the world of Rock n roll while on your road trip... suggested purchase for those that love real music and also love to travel.
