Peter C. Hewlett (Editor) is Director of the British Board of Agreement. He is President of the European Organization for Technical Approvals (EOTA) and Past President of the European Union of Agreement (UEAtc). Before joining the BBA in March 1988, he was a Director of Cementation Research Limited, part of the then Trafalgar House group, working in construction and building research and development for almost 25 years

About the Author

Hirofumi Akagi is a Professor in the department of electrical and electronic engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. His research interest includes power conversion systems and its applications to industry, transportation, and utility. He has authored and coauthored some 120 IEEE Transactions papers and two invited papers published in Proceedings of the IEEE in 2001 and 2005. He was elected as an IEEE Fellow in 1996, a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Power Electronics and Industry Applications Societies for 1998-1999. He received six IEEE Transactions prize paper awards, and 15 IEEE Industry Applications Society Committee prize paper awards. He is the recipient of the 2001 IEEE Power Electronics William E. Newell Award, the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Society Outstanding Achievement Award, the 2008 IEEE Richard H. Kaufmann Technical Field Award, and the 2012 IEEE Power & Energy Society Nari Hingorani Custom Power Award. Dr. Akagi served as the President of the IEEE Power Electronics Society for 2007-2008. Since January 2015, he has been serving as the IEEE Division II Director.

Edson Hirokazu Watanabe is a Professor at COPPE/Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he teaches Power Electronics. His main fields of interests are converters analysis, modeling and design, active filters and FACTS technologies. Dr. Watanabe has more than 50 journal papers and more than 200 conference papers. He is a member of the IEE-Japan, The Brazilian Society for Automatic Control, The Brazilian Power Electronics Society, CIGRE and Power Engineering, Industry Applications and Power Electronics Societies of IEEE. In 2005, he was admitted to the National Order of Scientific Merit, Brazil. In 2013, he received the IEEE Power & Energy Society Nari Hingorani FACTS Award and became member of the National (Brazil) Academy of Engineering and in 2015 he was elected a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

Mauricio Aredes received the B.Sc. degree from UFF - Fluminense Federal University, Rio de Janeiro State in 1984, the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1991, and the Dr.-Ing. degree (summa cum laude) from Technische Universit�t Berlin in 1996. In 1997, he became an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he teaches Power Electronics. His main research area includes HVDC and FACTS systems, active filters, Custom Power, Renewable Energy Systems, and Power Quality Issues.

About the Author
Roxanne Henderson is a freelance editor whose recent work includes a series of minibooks of Bible stories for three- to seven-year-olds, as well as the forthcoming "Sign Language Made Simple".

Brown graduated from nursing school at Hahnemann University in 1983. Since 1990 he has been on the staff of Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Signs are grouped by subject rather than alphabetical, which can lead to a lot of page flipping. There is an index, so I utilize that a lot! Helpful hints are given, signs are clear, alternative signs are given where they exist. My sign language book was 30 years old, so these signs are updated from that!

Interesting Book.

This is a product review for Sign Language Made Simple: A Complete Introduction to American Sign Language. I bought this book because I have been trying to learn how to sign for two years now and I am always searching for a good book to help me, since I don't have anyone to practice with, after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try and ordered it. With my Prime membership, it took three days to arrive since I ordered it late at night, it arrived in a yellow package and was left inside my mailbox.

The book is like a soft-cover textbook in size and not heavy (At least for me.) I read it a bit and looked through it, just to compare it a bit with what I know and other books I have tried. The introduction was interesting, it talked a bit about the sign language history, I found the alphabet page to be good as well and love the fact that in the back, there is a few quotes and the signs to go with it. For me, this book is different from the ones I've tried before because it not only teaches signing but it also teaches a lot about the deaf culture.

Included is a picture I just took of the book, I bought mine used but it still looks fairly new. Underneath the book is the package it came in.

What a gift this is to have a well written guide specifically for my first DSLR camera

Since this is my first DSLR camera, I was a bit overwhelmed at first with all the features this type of camera has, but thankfully I purchased this guide when I bought the camera. This guide has greatly helped me understand the powerful features of the a77 II. He explains all the functions and goes in depth in certain topics that help me, just starting out, to get a hold of the basics and be ready to experiment to take my skills to the next level. This guide helps me get full use of the camera I paid for.

David Busch simply writes the best guide books out there

David Busch simply writes the best guide books out there. I bought his book for my first good camera (a Sony SLT A-33) and my second (a Sony DCS RX 100MII) and I found his books to be well organized, well-written and very easy to understand. I got a little impatient waiting for his book on the Sony Alpha 77 II) so I "left the reservation" and got someone else's book. All I can say is that I wasted my money. I bought Busch's book the day it came out and all's right with the world again. If you want an intelligently written, well-organized guide book, look no further.

Best camera guides ever

This is the third David Busch book I have owned, for different cameras and I love them. I recommend them to anyone getting a new camera. Anything you want to know or learn about your camera is easily found and understood in these books.

Great resource but the Kindle version TOC doesn't match the text!

This is a gold standard resource text for neonatologists and pediatric neurologists. However my complaint is that the Kindle version has a hyperlinked table of contents that corresponds poorly with the actual material. I find it very difficult to find the beginning of chapters relative to where the hyperlink sends me (it's often more than a few pages off).
Can someone fix this? (Should be pretty easy...)

A must own for child neurologists

Pros: This is the most comprehensive text available on the neurological development of the fetus and newborn. It's very well organized and a pleasure to read.

Cons: No colour photographs. I have both the Kindle and hardcover copies. I bought the hardcover years ago when it was printed beautifully on glossy paper. However, colleagues who have purchased the book since then have received it on matte paper where the image quality isn't as good as my version.

Simply the best!

This is undoubtfully THE source of knowledge for the basics and more for neonatologists who deal with neurology and its problems in NICUs.
The e-book is not perfect-the links not always are related and many times the bok starts over from te beginning, but it's a GREAT source, even though.
