A MUST READ!

Amazing! And what a great deal!
I planned on reading this book throughout the week in between all of my holiday errands. I finished it in 24 hours (in the middle of a crap ton of baking.) I kept finding excuses to continue reading it.
I won't say any spoilers but I am definitely a Holden fan :-)

Pieces of me is a brilliant and heartwarming, emotional novel with amazing relatable characters and is the first NA book i have read in a while that contains no explicit sex scenes. It gets a bit old after a while so this is a much welcomed change.
I must say the twist... I didn't see that coming at all! It left me staring at the page for a full 5 minutes before turning the page.
I can definitely see Pieces of Me becoming an international bestseller. Go grab it now!

Another engrossing read by an excellent author.

This is a really good book. It's sweet and realistic but it takes unexpected turns. I have read several books by this author and enjoy her style as well as the present tense, first-hand point of view. I recommended this book to young adults, even teens, it has a little bit of language inappropriate for younger readers but it's not overdone or excessive and the book is not vulgar or overly graphic. Once I sampled this book, I had to know what happened. The story continues to draw the reader in, only peppering in answers throughout, while simultaneously building on a new path that is equally intriguing. I felt the characters. I also know someone who has been through a similar event and it was clarifying to be inside the head of a character who was processing the same emotions. Very good read. Kudos again to Erica Cope, I look forward to her future releases.

Are you looking for a terrific book of true adventure short stories? Fannie Eckstorm ran a bunk house in Bangor Maine at the turn of the century and tells us tales she heard from the loggers themselves. Penobscot Man is one of the most sought after books about the rough and tumble men that cut the white pines during Winter and drove them downriver to saw mills at Millinocket and Bangor during the Spring meltwater floods. So "put on your caulk boots, grab your peavy, and forget the meaning of fear", Penobscot Man will thrill your heart and you just might learn something too! This classic of American literature is currently out of print but allways in demand!

Eckstrom does an excellent job depicting 19th century life on the West Branch of the Penobscot River. She draws a vivid picture of the long days, harsh conditions, and undaunting pride which permeated the life of a river driver. The river landmarks are accurately described and can be visited today, nearly 100 years after the original publication date. This book is a must to read for anyone who visits the West Branch of the Penobscot River in Maine.

About the Author
N. Manikanda Boopathi is presently working as an Assistant Professor (Biotechnology) at the Department of Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, CPMB&B, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India. He graduated in agricultural sciences, did his masters and doctoral studies in Plant Biotechnology and trained at International Rice Research Institute, The Philippines. He has handled more than 20 courses for under-graduate and post-graduate students in his university and is invited frequently for delivering lectures in several institutions, both in India and abroad. His scientific work has been recognized during several occasions and has brought him laurels and awards. He has a vast experience in QTL mapping and marker assisted selection in rice and cotton. He has completed several national and international research projects and is currently working in two countrywide and one worldwide network projects that address the problems of biotic and abiotic stresses in cotton, mungbean, hot-pepper and tomato using system quantitative genetics. An Excellent Introduction To NLP Techniques

I have heard the term NLP 'bandied around' often, but never really understood what it was all about.

This book has given me the opportunity to be exposed to some of the processes of NLP to try out for myself, without having to get too involved with the technical explanations of how it all works. Having said that, now that I have tried out some of these techniques, I am interested in exploring the subject further and have subscribed for further information!

The author guides you through the exercises in a simple, step by step fashion, and doesn't 'waffle on' unnecessarily to extend the length of his book, which allows you to 'get right into it' and put the techniques into practice.

I believe these techniques can be useful for anyone in their life journey, and am particularly interested in sharing them with a couple of people I know with mental health issues too.

I have heard of NLP for years and never explored it. This book provides a great introduction and methods to start today.

Among other skills, I have taught teenage girls self esteem for years. I teach them how to reprogram their subconscious critical thoughts and many methods to boost their self esteem. I have also taught the anchoring technique mentioned in the book for over 20 years.

I am excited to use part 4 - the Swish method - to assist others boost their self esteem. The book describes 5 Tips for the Swish method.

My niche involves emotional and energy healing so I see the reprogramming negative emotions as described, of crucial importance.

I like at the end of each chapter the description of what's coming up, as well a summary of the chapter.

Easy, Step-by-Step NLP Guide!

When Mr. Colin Smith promises a value-packed, low fluff, step-by-step guide to getting you more empowered, he delivers! While I'd heard about NLP before this book, mostly in the context of sales, I really didn't know much about how it worked or how using these techniques could benefit be personally. A dear friend recommended this book to me as an introduction, and I learned SO MUCH!

You jump right in from the first chapter, learning how to create a ″resource state″ which is a positive feeling that you can then call up at will whenever you press your thumb and forefinger together. It took me a couple of tries to get into the right state of mind to make this work, but once I did, I found that I was able to kick myself out of a bad or down mood simply by using this technique. That alone would have made the book a good value for me, but from there Mr. Smith takes us into further and more detailed techniques, including how to create and use a timeline, how to knock out a negative emotion quickly (beyond the resource state), and more! Every chapter is jam-packed with immediately useful information that is conveyed in an organized, easy to understand way.

In short, this is a great resource for anyone looking to jump right into NLP! Highly recommended!

This book is terrible. Don't waste your money

This book is terrible. Don't waste your money. Poorly edited and replete with typos. The book itself doesn't actually give a quick start introduction to anything except the basic idea behind Agile project management (which, I might add, you could easily discover on your own through a Google search) and then it proceeds to repeat the same generalized information for about 100 pages. You will certainly not walk away "mastering" anything after reading this book. There are no concrete steps or examples that one might use to actually understand how to implement Agile methodology. You'll read through MANY bulleted lists of concepts that would be very helpful to learn more about but, sadly, you never do! A more fitting title for this book would be "A quick overview of Agile principles, how they might be applied to other industries, and basic info about the taking the certification exam." Submitting for a refund ASAP.

This book tells you nothing about the details of Agile or how to actually use Agile Project Management. It is 80pgs of why to use Agile and how it differs from traditional project management. This isnt even a short version of how to use it. The book is basically a waste. Do not waste your money on it. It is just an advertisement to take a course. I can't believe anyone gave it more than a star or two. Any 5 star rating is a scam by the author. Seriously.

This is by far the WORST reference book I have ever read in my professional career. If you want to get an introduction to agile project management or know how to start an agile project management, this is NOT THE BOOK FOR YOU. If you wonder if there are any benefits to agile, vs. water fall, project management, don't mind reading a very poorly written and poorly organized book, and have some money you need to throw away, you may consider this book.
The book is a collection of random thoughts written by a person who may have been part of an agile project team. The contents of the chapters and sections do not match the chapter title or the section heading. The book is filled with grammatic mistakes. It surprises me that the publisher did not proofread the book before printing.

A great series for the 6-8 age group

My first grader loves to read chapter books featuring interesting characters, and the Sophie series of books is a winner. Unlike the Junie B. Jones series (the stories are cute, but the kiddie-language with all of the grammatical errors annoys me), these stories are well-written and engaging. The sentences are not overly simple, but not very complex to the point of making reading and comprehension difficult.

In Sophie the Snoop, Sophie decides to imitate the great detective Sherlock Holmes and calls herself Sophie the Snoop. She dons a hat not unlike the one worn by the great detective himself, and goes about looking for mysteries to solve. Her first case involves figuring out who handed in a math worksheet without putting his/her name on it. Well, some simple sleuthing proves that it was Sophie's worksheet!

There are some funny scenes where Sophie tries to solve some 'mysteries', and young children will enjoy reading about Sophie and her zany adventures. I think these books are suitable for the first-third grade age group (6-8 years old). They are not too easy, yet the stories are interesting with engaging characters that young children can relate to. For young readers who are proficient and advanced readers, I'd also recommend:

Good book

I would recommend this book to someone 3rd or 4th grade. It is appropriate, but might be a bad influence on younger children because the storyline for this book is her snooping in other people's business, and going through a teachers purse. Good writing not very difficult but has good vocabulary and your child will learn alot

My daughter is not a great reader. So, I am trying hard to look for books that would develop her interest in reading. This book did! I bought couple of other books in the series (Sophie the Awesome and Sophie the Hero), but, so far, this is the best.

Perfect smurfect

The first 2 chapters were probably the most helpful; that is, if you didn't already know the basics about personal statement writing.

My real gripe with the book are the examples; if these are some of the very best that applicants have had to offer, then perhaps anyone could get in. However, I really don't think they are. The examples are simple and not at all profound, as I would expect a stellar personal statement to be. I think I wrote better samples of things while I was in middle school. I had bought this book with the intention of getting good ideas on how to write my own personal statement but I'm not in any better position than I was before I read the book.

Pros: I think they used recycled paper to print this book. That deserves at least 2 stars!

Overt and conservative

This book gets a grade of 'just OK'. My feeling is if you *need* the advice passed on by this book, you're probably not a good candidate for grad school to begin with. I had more than a few *facepalm* moments while reading, asking myself if anyone needs advice that is so obvious. Another thing I didn't like about the text was that it tries its hardest to steer you toward writing a conservative, middle of the road statement. It takes every opportunity to remind you that creativity and boldness will not be rewarded by your evaluators.

There are probably better books (I hope) out there to help you through the process of writing up your personal statement for graduate school.

As a college student soon applying to professional schools, I found this book to be totally useless. Although cheap, it is not worth the buy. It gives some general advice that is already well-known but is also given in better and more detailed books. In addition, their examples hardly impressed me and were definitely not top-tier school material. If I turned in one of those statements, I would be rejected everywhere. Look elsewhere when looking for how to write your statement!!!
